Free rescue service in Laos

Thanks to the dedication and amazing commitment of our non-paid volunteers, we are able to provide any kind of emergency services, on a 24/7 basis, for free.

14 years of service

Founded in 2005, the Lao Foundation for Assisting the Poor is a non profit organisation created to reduce the suffering of the most disadvantaged.

Between 2007 and 2010, a group of volunteers from the Foundation tried to set up an ambulance service thanks to a vehicule shared with a local hospital.

In 2010  the Foundation got a brand new ambulance. 7 volunteers from the Foundation decided to create the first 24/7 ambulance service. Vientiane Rescue 1623 was created.

From the very beginning until today, Vientiane  Rescue 1623 has been relying solely on donations.

Our volunteers are internationally certified as "First Responders" and "Emergency Medical Technicians" thanks to the National Institute for Emergency Medicine from Thailand.

All volunteers, with the exception of one foreigner, are all Lao citizens, have another full-time occupation and all show strong commitment to the service, and dedicate their lives to saving lives on the roads.
